My final project for this Radial Design course I sought out to create an expressive art piece that makes a statement on the longevity of trees in tandem with the idea that although trees seem silent (to humans), they are just living organisms that take in the same forms of multi-sensory stimuli that we do as humans.

In attempt to materialize this concept of the “wisdom of trees” I chose to find a dead tree stump and set up a externally-powered microphone that I can set up at the stump and record about 6-8 hours to produce a relatively long waveform that captures the natural sounds that this tree reacts with on a daily basis.

From there, I would take the 6-hour audio file and use Adobe Illustrator to manipulate the waveform into a circular design with the intention of laser-cutting what the tree stump has listened to that day
